ARNOVA Conference Committee invites you to submit proposals for the 53rd ARNOVA Annual Conference, November 20-23, 2024, in Washington, DC. Before beginning your submission, please review the instructions and guidelines in the tabs for the Annual Conference.

We are planning for an in-person conference. Non-ARNOVA members can submit proposals. However, all presenters must be ARNOVA members and register for the conference. Non-members accepted to present at the conference will need to join ARNOVA and register for the conference. All submissions will be blind peer reviewed by the Conference Committee.

Deadlines:

Submissions must be submitted online by the following dates. There can be no exceptions

Thursday, May 16, 2024 - For Nonmembers

Thursday, May 23, 2024 – For Members

Deadlines will be enforced. The submission page will close at 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time on the designated dates; therefore, late submissions cannot be accepted. Incomplete submissions will be automatically rejected.

Presentation Formats:

The following submissions are available:

INDIVIDUAL SUBMISSIONS:

  • Paper - This is a proposal to present a scholarly paper that will be grouped with 2-3 other individual submissions with similar/related topics at the discretion of the reviews and conference co-chairs.
  • Emergent Research - Emergent Research Presentations provide an opportunity for conference attendees to share research that is in a formative stage of development for the purpose of getting input from colleagues.
  • Poster (one-on-one sessions) - are graphical presentations displayed during the conference. Poster presenters are expected to be with their poster at the designated presentation time.

GROUP SUBMISSIONS:

  • Panel - Panels are composed of 3-4 individual submissions that are pre-arranged to address a common theme. Panels should include a chair or discussant. Preference will be given to panels where individual contributors represent more than one institution.
  • Colloquium - A colloquium doesn’t include papers but instead is an interactive session that explores a single topic addressed by 3-4 speakers.
  • Professional Development Workshop - This track offers active learning opportunities in which members actively engage to develop their professional skills.

Submission Requirements

There are several different kinds of proposal submissions: Individual Submission, Panel, Colloquium, and Professional Development

Each session type has a specific set of requirements that need to be met to qualify for review by the Conference Committee. Please review each specific set of requirements by selecting a specific session type on the Begin a Submission tab.

Make Your Submission Stand Out

Each year, ARNOVA receives over 500 submissions that the Conference Committee reviews as they build the conference program. Beyond meeting the basic submission requirements, the Conference Committee encourages submitters to utilize any or all of the suggestions below to enhance their submission materials.

  • Review each detailed session type description to determine the best format for your content.
  • Consider diversity in all aspects of your submission when selecting presenters, including diversity in race, ethnicity, gender, geography, presenter age, etc., wherever possible and appropriate.
  • Identify any relevant ethical issues related to the submission's topic(s).

The Conference Committee welcomes and encourages submissions from students, trainees, and junior investigators, but strongly recommends that these submissions be reviewed by a senior faculty member or other senior mentor prior to completion.

If you have any questions about these submission requirements or would like assistance with your submission, please email conference@arnova.org.
